I believe dog training should be a collaborative journey—one that helps you understand your dog, strengthens your relationship, and makes everyday life together more rewarding.

I’m a Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner (KPA-CTP), graduating with distinction from KPA’s Dog Trainer Professional program. I had the privilege of learning under Emma Parsons, whose work with reactivity and aggression helped shape my understanding of canine behavior and positive reinforcement training.

From Photography to Dog Training

Before becoming a professional dog trainer, I spent 20 years as a commercial photographer. Photography taught me the value of observation, timing, and paying attention to the smallest details—skills that have become just as important in my work with dogs.

Then came Norman, my brilliant, high-drive Border Collie.

Learning how to meet his mental and physical needs introduced me to positive reinforcement and clicker training. The more I learned, the more fascinated I became with how dogs learn and communicate. What started with one dog eventually became a complete career change.

Since then, I’ve worked as a dog handler and trainer at Far Fetched Acres and later joined Berkshire Humane Society. Today, I’m also an acting instructor at Family Dog School, working alongside a Shelter Behaviorist, CPDT-KA®, CBCC-KA®, a Director on the CCPDT Board.

These experiences have shaped the way I train: with curiosity, compassion, and a focus on understanding the individual dog.

Whether we’re working on everyday manners, leash walking, puppy foundations, enrichment, or more challenging behaviors like anxiety, reactivity, or aggression, my goal is to help you become a better observer of your dog and a more effective teammate.

Because better training starts with better understanding.
